Our Mission
At Pucallpa Moving Boundaries, our mission is to support underprivileged primary school students in Pucallpa, Peru. We believe that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and creating a brighter future for these children. Through our various programs and initiatives, we aim to provide access to quality education, resources, and opportunities for these students. Together, we can make a difference and empower the next generation.
Why Support
Hello, I am Joaquin LeWand, a student at Colorado Academy in Denver, Colorado. I come from a family of mixed backgrounds which includes Peruvian and American heritage. I realized young that my ties to Peru are important to me - the language, culture, food and people have stood out and evolved to be a part of me as I have grown older. I speak Spanish and one of my great joys is visiting Peru as a place of tremendous diversity and hope.
In 2016, I visited Pucallpa, Peru where I have relatives. As is often the case in Peru, there are many that have limited access to means we often take for granted in the United States. This includes the support and supplies to provide a fulsome education.
Separately, I have had the opportunity to support the Center for Hope School in Nairobi, Kenya. I have done so since 2019 through student sponsorship and having been fortunate to make a visit to the school in Kibera - the largest slum in Africa. It was a tremendously moving experience. I have come to appreciate the significant impact on lives which basic support for education can provide. I have also since realized the importance of supporting education in Peru and found no better cause then the Institucion Educativa No 64055 La Victoria in Pucallpa Peru.
The funds raised will provide direct financial support for supplies such as basic necessities often not sufficiently available like pens, paper, books, uniforms, etc. Please consider providing a donation to support this great cause. As A child without education is like a bird without wings - ancient proverb.
First Part Completed!
Thank you to all who have donated! The first step of the project has now been completed with my visit to the school the week of June 12, 2024, and provision of needed supplies enabled by the generosity of our contributors. Below are some photos and a video of me speaking to the students and faculty in Pucallpa.
